Loved it, Loved it, Loved it

Heath Sommer just released his third book The Human Obsession and it is my favorite. All I keep thinking is that he book is like my favorite tv series that get better and better season by season. He keeps you hooked with the complications of love, relationships, mystery, trust, obsession...well, life really. I recommend this book to everyone who has read The Grand Delusion and The Manufactured Identity.

Calling all Runners!

As one who has recently had a knee injury due to running it was interesting to read Christopher McDougall's book "Born to Run." His knowledge of everything running was astounding. McDougall discusses how the runners world has been "vexed by injury" and how it can be avoided. It was amazing to learn that there is an Indian Tribe in Mexico known for distance running and the amazing part is that they run in thin soles shoes. My first thought was "How and why do they do that?" I was intrigued. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone that loves running. You will learn much and enjoy the read.

Day of War

I participated in a Book Club review. Here are my answers to Cliff Graham's Day of War:

Question 1: How was the introduction, storyline, character pacing, and your overall impression of the novel?
The Prologue was captivating. Part I was a bit slow but I was still hooked. This book was more than just wars, it was about how we as people, no matter what time we live in, learn and grow through the challenges of life. Day of War was worth reading.

Question 2: What character, storyline, and specific chapter did you like the best and why?

My favorite character was of course Benaiah. Day of War shows him as a man who was a hero that triumphed through trials.

Question 3: What other stories, movies, or storytellers come to mind that is like Day of War?
Day of War is definitely action packed and reminded me of Braveheart and Saving Private Ryan. If you like action and fighting then you will like Day of War.

Question 4: What if anything do you wish the author had done different?
As one who does not like the sight of blood I wish the author wouldn't have left such detailed war scenes.

Question 5: What rating (using our Tate Authors scale of course, it is on the right banner of this website) would you give this novel?

The Grand Delusion

High expectations were set when picking up The Grand Delusion. After reading, it was realized that Sommer exceeded all expectations! Intimate moments of struggle, frustration, and some of life’s most daunting questions come to life by such real characters. It leaves the reader wondering how they would react and answer to these questions of life. The word recommend cannot capture the intensity for all to read this book!

Introduction was kind of predictable (meaning what I expected), Characters - Gideon was interesting but it was hard for me to believe he would have the motivation to be good given colored pastSotry pacing was "just Right"-I liked it

The Lost Symbol

I felt that The Lost Symbol was just ok. I was not impressed and rushing out to tell others to read it. I felt that the plot had weeknesses but it did have its suspenseful moments. If you have read his other two I would recommend reading it but if not then don't bother.
